epitome of woe!

I was so disappointed with the Night Festival. HL and I bought take-away dinner from chippy's and dashed to SMU. We went to different spots, trying to get the optimal seats for this event where there was pyrotechnics and fireworks. Then we realised that we were really early, and that the shows at that time weren't that hot. We headed to National Museum, which was crowded.

Suddenly, the museum became really packed! To our horror, it was POURING!! This woman came around with a loud speaker, giving out noise rather than instructions. We only saw 3 sections - the children's hoop magnet display, the fashion gallery and the Verner Panton (1926–1998) exhibit (which was really good, actually. Looking forward to photos! :P)

We were walking around the furniture exhibit when we overheard this. Kids who mispronounce are still kinda cute (:

Man in charge of exhibit: (shouts) I SEE A FLASH!
*dashes hurriedly to tell the person using camera flash, not to.

Boy turns to father: (puzzledly) Daddy, why cannot use fash? why cannot use fash?

HL: That's a good question!

We hung around a bit more and waited for the rain to die down. Then once again, we were at SMU, finding the best place to stand to get the full view. We ended at up the main square, anxiously anticipating the event. The guy who was the "host" couldn't speak English properly, so no one had a clue what he was saying. Then this girl came up and sang. A lot of lights and smoke.

After which, they focused on the National Museum, where 3 people kept spinning on this large wheel. The backdrop was this photo collage, which soon became boring. The pyrotechnics kicked it, thank goodness. Finally, the fireworks.

However, it was such a letdown! The start was quite interesting and fun. We took a few photos and cheered, waiting for the final show. In the end, it just fizzled. There was no grand series finale of non-stop fireworks at all. Highly disappointing.

My feet were sore from walking. We waited eons for the event. We were caught in the rain. It was stuffy and sticky in the midst of the crowd. The smoke from the pyro actually spread all the way to Dhoby (it smelt like the smoke of sparklers) and was suffocating. The last time to the Night Festival. EVER!!!

and somehow.. i think I sprained my 4th finger. Damn.

Thank goodness for lunch with jo, and hl's company (: Otherwise, this would have majorly sucked.
